School on Magnetism 2027

The 2027 edition of the Italian School on Magnetism will take place in Pisa, on February 2-5 2027 at Polo S. Rossore. The school is 8th edition of a series of successful schools promoted by AIMagn, the Italian Association on Magnetism and held every two years around Italy. Previous editions have been held in Pavia (2012), Parma (2014), Milan (2016), Turin (2018), Rome (2020), Milan (2023) and Perugia (2025). This edition will be organized jointly by the Department of Chemistry and Industrial Chemistry, University of Pisa and ICCOM, National Research Council.

The school traditionally alternates between editions covering fundamental concepts and editions targeted on specific topics. The title of the edition is:

“Shining Light on Magnetism“

The interplay between magnetism and electromagnetic radiation, from x-rays to visible light to microwaves, is rich in thrilling detail: powerful investigation techniques, control of the magnetic state of matter, initialization of spin-based quantum systems are just a few examples. The upcoming Italian School of Magnetism in Pisa will cover this and more and will give an up-to-date point of view on the current landscape of photon-related topics in magnetism.

To promote the dissemination of science, the School also includes an evening event of divulgation character. The School is addressed to Italian and foreign graduate and PhD students, as well as to post-doc and young researchers. To stimulate the discussion between students and lecturers, we strongly encourage the participants to book the room in the same hotel where the conference will be held, taking advantage from the discounted rates granted to the attendees. Students are invited to prepare a poster to present their scientific activity.
